About Me
I’m a rising junior at Carlmont High School in Belmont, California, and a staff writer for Scot Scoop News. My reporting tends to center around the systems that impact student life the most, like the security cameras most students hardly notice or the funding decisions that can change a course catalog.
I’m also drawn to stories where the answers aren’t quite obvious from the outside, which usually means public records requests and sit-down interviews with school administrators. My strongest work so far has investigated the surveillance infrastructure built into my own campus, largely composed of Avigilon units that can persistently track the appearances of students and teachers.
Outside the newsroom, I read classic science fiction and spend more time that I should thinking about typography.
